See a movie with subtitles in a theatre - I had no idea going into this movie that it was going to be in Spanish. I sat for about 10 minutes thinking they were going to yank the subtitles away from me and suddenly start talking in English (just like in the science of sleep) and i was quite happy and excited when they didn’t and i could rest assured the whole movie would continue on true to the language of the country it was set in. Its an excellent flick, though it had me watching for creepy fauns that could be lurking around any corner for a few weeks afterward (yes, i can separate real life from the world of fiction, but still, that faun is creepy! Just look at him! And hes like 12 feet tall! heebee jeebees all around). The ending was kinda so-so, but its still worth seeing at least once. completed January 2007

Give up fast food for 1 month - There are quite a few food related goals here aren’t there? You know why? ‘Cause i like food! I’m not one of those dainty ladies who can live on salad alone. San Francisco has tons of great vegetarian food for the eating and it wasn’t at all hard to not eat fast food for a month. San Francisco has a lot of tasty sit down restaurants with quick and friendly service, nifty independent grocers and very few fast food chains outside of the FIDI and Fisherman’s wharf; unlike San Diego where there is a Mc Donalds, Burger King or Wendy’s on every block. Rainbow Grocers and Whole Foods have made it easy to make all kinds of unique vegetarian dishes with fresh and new to the palette ingredients. The only fast food place we have been to since we moved here has been In-n-Out Burger. What can i say? I’m a SoCal girl and an In-n-Out grilled cheese isn’t something i care to leave behind. completed nov./dec. 2006
