Hi Darlin'! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks so much for visiting!

This weekend I’m letting my geek flag fly and heading out to the San Francisco Zine Fest at Golden Gate Park. I’ll be getting on a plane for a long 8+ hour trip to Copenhagen in a little less than three weeks and the whole flight cant be all self help books and fiction novels. Sometimes a girl needs a little bit more visual stimulation. Also, I ♥ zines (and comics and graphic novels…)!
Not everyone has an inner geek though, and for you lovely people the weekend should be chocked full of fun too…
Home Ec – Fans of food will want to get out to 2009’s San Francisco Street Food festival on Saturday. With deliciousness from Kasa, Bi-Rite, Delfina, and more(!) ranging from 3-8 bucks what reasons could you possibly have for not getting out there and enjoying a few tasty morsels? | Saturday, August 22, 2009 @ Jack London Square *edit* This event is actually happening at La Cocina (Folsom and 25th St), for more details see Johnny’s comment below, thanks Johnny! : funcheapSF
P.E. – If there was a zombie uprising would you be ready? What about vampires? Could you handle some bad ass, fast as all get out, blood sucking vampires in hand to hand to silver bullet battle? If you answer yes to either of these questions then perhaps the Anarchist Olympics are your can of woop ass. Head on out and compete in ultra emo, but manly, and womanly, events like slingshot shooting, combat kissing, and capture the flag. Show ‘em what you got! | Saturday & Sunday, August 22 & 23, 2009 @ Golden Gate Park : funcheapSF

I hope everyone has plans for this lovely weekend that quickly approaches. Me, I am going to a city clean up that’s going on Saturday morning, and then I’m off to a bridal shower for my awesome friend *E* that I haven’t seen in pretty close to a year. Hooray for friends from the Bay Area returning to the bay area for a day!
How about you? What will you be up to? Any plans? If you’re at a loss, here are a few environmentally themed things going on in the Bay Area this weekend, in honor of Earth Day next week.
1. If you’re willing to brave the largest tourist trap in our fair city on a weekend Earth Fest is happening on Sunday over on Fisherman’s Wharf. Grab the kids and learn a few things you can do around your home to help lady Earth. :: FunCheapSF, Aquarium of the Bay
2. Into getting down and dirty in the soil? Why not head out to Alemany Farm this Saturday and work your green thumbs magic? Help prepare plant beds and plant seedlings. Enjoy free food and music too! :: FunCheapSF
3. If hiking and trail running is your thing why not give back and head over to “East Bay Regional Park District presents: Earth Day and California Trail Days” over in Antioch on Saturday. Help tidy up the trails and park and mingle and have lunch with other trail lovers from the Bay Area. :: FunCheapSF
Additionally the “Earth Day on the Bay” Festival is happening on Saturday in Redwood City, and the 4th Annual Healthy Living Fair is going on here in Laurel Heights on Sunday. So get on out there, volunteer, learn, have a good time and do something for yourself and lady Earth.
All the best and have an amazing weekend everyone!
