Damask-Boudoir-Fashion-Show

Social Entropy Presents the Damask Boudoir Fashion Show & Performances will be happening at the Oakland Metropolitan Opera House on August 8th and I totally want to go. Look at the dress on the lovely lady above, it’s gorgeous!

Designers Dollymop, Anna Quinones, Luma Gallegos, and Erika von Petrin are a few of the creative fashion minds that will be present and showing their works at this Saturday nights event. There is also talk of treats of music, art, drag, burlesque, belly dancers and more.

What else could you want on a random Saturday night in August?

Train Your Brain

Time passes differently in San Francisco. Without the blazing hot days of summer and the overly blustery rainy days of winter to divide the year it all just blends together into one even keeled weather ride of bland. Days blend into months blend into years…

Those of you keeping track of the SF equivalent for the “dog days of summer” know that we are now at the top of our warm weather hill and that we will be rolling on down into autumn soon enough.

Many of us who have spent our summer so far hanging out in the back of Zeitgeist, going to white trash themed parties, and vomiting in the street might feel the need to start nursing their brains back to health.

Carolyn Kellogg, author of the Los Angeles Times book blog Jacket Copy, has created an interesting list of 61 essential post-modern reads. This list features a range of books and is easily skimmable thanks to a slightly intense little key that tells you things like whether a book is fat, thin, plays with language or has a self-contradicting plot, among other things.

It’s time to start training your brains people because you and I both know come the end of the summer you have to get a job, and no one wants to hire a dummy.

Hooray it’s Monday!

3 Aug

This past weekend was a let down in the sunshine department huh? A dreary weekend definitely doesn’t make shuffling our feet into the workplace come Monday any easier, but we can’t let that keep us down!

This week is a week for progress and life changing decisions, or at least it could be.

Maybe you want to go to grad school and come out a super genius? Create the biggest boldest piece of street art the world has ever seen? Open corner spot that sells nothing flavored milk and fancy pb&j sandwiches? Go for it!

Always remember that you are the only one who can change your life and live your dream my darlings. We all have the ability to manifest our own destinies and to make things happen. Share your ideas and take initiative. Don’t sit around waiting for other people to do things. Don’t wait for someone to be as amazing as you, it won’t happen!

I’ve been down about my career life as of late, so I have started trying to branch out and do it to it. I’m getting involved with the union and letting my ideas be heard and I by golly I do believe it’s working.

Listen to this song, feel empowered and go out and have a great week everyone!

All after pulling weeds, leveling the concrete and getting rid of a good chunk of it to put in grass of course. I haven’t seen the inside, but if it was even 70% to my liking I would scoop this place up in an instant. TL locale be damned. It’s got a yard, and as someone who grew up in So Cal with yards and pools and driveways the size of this “yard” excites me to no end.

To buy or not to buy? Little house, I have a feeling you will always be the one that got away.

Hooray it’s Monday!

“He was waiting for a long procession of protesters – both pro and anti-choice – to pass. Until then, he had no business as he couldn’t navigate his bike through the crowd.”

It’s a brand new week my fellow citizens and a second chance to make life absolutely amazing. Make it work. ♥
